HH Penor Rinpoche and Penor Rinpoche Yangsi

It is a matter of great joy and pleasure to inform all the disciples and well-wishes of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche residing around the globe that our beloved root guru has been reborn in Tibet. According to His Holiness Jadrel Rinpoche’s prophecy letter, Penor Rinpoche’s Yangsi (reincarnated being), was born near Leten Tramo Drag or Dung Lung Tramo Drag, the sacred place where the Nyingthing Yabshyi (The Four Cycles of Heart Essence Teachings) was revealed. Based upon this prophecy letter, combined with pure visions of Tulku Thubten Palzang Rinpoche, the Yangsi was authentically recognized.

On 31st July 2014, the auspicious day of the Buddha’s First Turning of the Wheel of Dharma, the 4th Day of the Sixth Tibetan month–2141 Royal Year–the Yangsi will be enthroned.

We request all our Dharma brothers and sisters to carry out the following prayers for the long life of the Yangsi and to overcome all the obstacles thereby ensuring the success of the enthronement ceremony.

1. BarchedLamsel (Prayer to Avert Obstacles on the Path)
2. SampaLhundrub (Prayer to Spontaneously Accomplish All Wishes)
3. NetenChagChod (Supplication Prayer and Offering to the Sixteen Elders)

Penor Rinpoche's reincarnation found, enthronement in 2014

DHARAMSALA, December 6 - Five years after the passing away of His Eminence Penor Rinpoche, former head of the oldest school of Tibetan Buddhism, his reincarnation has been found, his monastery Namdrol Ling said in a statement on Thursday.
Palyul’s seniormost lama in Tibet, Tulku Thubten Zangpo Rinpoche, found the reincarnation at Leten Tramo Drag or Dung Lung Tramo Drag, a sacred location near Tibet’s capital, Lhasa拉薩市, based on a “prophecy letter” sent by the 100-year-old yogi Jadrel Rinpoche. The statement, however, did not give more details.

 

Palyul’s current throne-holder, Kyabje Karma Kuchen Rinpoche, has already set out on the journey to formally greet the new reincarnation. A traditional enthronement ceremony of Penor Rinpoche’s yangsi (reincarnation), investing him as Palyul’s 12th Throneholder, will take place at Palyul Monastery in Tibet on July 31, 2014, the holy day marking the time of the Buddha’s first teaching after his enlightenment.

Penor Rinpoche held the position of the head of Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism until his health deteriorated leading to his demise on March 27, 2009.

Kyabjé Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche was born in 1932 in Powo region of Kham, Eastern Tibet. Rinpoche became the 11th throne-holder of Palyul, one of six “mother monasteries” in Tibet’s oldest Buddhist tradition, known as the Nyingma. He established Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement in 1963 with only a handful of monks.
